Town on Trial is a 1957 British mystery film directed by John Guillermin. In this very British whodunnit, John Mills stars as a Scotland Yard detective who’s called in to investigate unsavoury goings-on in an English town. A woman with a dubious reputation has been found dead on club property and there’s no shortage of suspects for Mills to grill, all of whom seem to have a dodgy past. It’s a modest mystery in the Agatha Christie tradition, and it offers a modicum of tension.
Miss Robin Hood. A dotty old fan of a children’s comic book ropes its straight-laced author into taking part in a madcap crime caper. Margaret Rutherford and Richard Hearne lead a solid cast. Good production values. Recommended screwball fun. IMDB rating 6.2.

The “Blue Max”, a coveted medal for achievement in flying, is ruthlessly sought by Bruno Stabel (George Peppard), a poor-boy German soldier who climbs out of the trenches and into the aristocratic air force. He is met with prejudice by the other contestants; wealthy snobs who look down upon his low economic stature. When he claims the title, he earns the respect of the General, and the General’s wife, who wants to repay him in ways that the General might not appreciate.
When an attractive young girl is murdered, suspicion falls on several members of the local tennis club. It falls to Police Inspector Halloran (Sir John Mills) to sort out all the red herrings, and finally after a confrontation at the top of the local church spire, arrest the culprit.
